Ulzii, a teenager from a slum in Ulaanbaatar, is determined to win a science competition to receive a scholarship. His mother, an illiterate, finds work in the countryside and leaves him, his brother and sister behind despite the harsh winter. Torn between the need to look after his siblings and his desire to study for competition, Ulzii has no choice: he has to
accept to put himself in danger to support his family.
